Dawson leads drive-in at the annual captain’s contest
KEITH DAWSON was the latest man to lead off the annual new captain’s drive-in at Theale Golf Club.
Dawson first started playing golf aged eight, playing in many junior tournaments before giving the game up for 10 years, only to return.
Four years ago he joined Theale, becoming vice-captain last year, going on to win the club championship.
Playing off a handicap of five, Dawson’s drive-in was short of what most expected at 215 yards, but John Brookes’ guess won the traditional sweepstake.
Over 50 members took part in the tournament that followed with Paul Ellis beating Kieran Lamb on countback after both scoring 40 points. Nick Hallett rounded off the top three on 29.
