A year in folk
THIS WEEK’S special guests at the Nettlebed Folk Club are Aidan O’Rourke and Kit Downes.
The duo are coming together for Introducing 365, a sparse and emotive exploration of contemporary folk music.
O’Rourke is a multi award-winning Scottish fiddler while Downes is a BBC Jazz Award Winning harmonium and piano player.
Their set showcases new material from O’Rourke’s 365 album series, which was released last month.
The musician has been writing an original tune every day for the past year in response to
James Robertson’s collection of daily short stories
365 (Penguin Books). Kit Downes adds bold harmonisations to Aidan’s trademark lyrical and dynamic fiddle style.
The Introducing concerts offer a chance to witness the two musicians collaborating and exploring new music together.
It takes place on Monday from 8pm at the Village Club, High Street in Nettlebed.
