Armed rob­bers threaten wo­man dur­ing late night raid

A LATE night armed rob­bery took place in Wood­ley last week and po­lice are ap­peal­ing for wit­nesses.

Around 10.30pm last Tues­day, a wo­man in her 60s was threat­ened by a knifewield­ing thief.

Two of­fend­ers broke into a house on Hur­ri­cane Way.

One man searched the house while the other threat­ened the wo­man by point­ing the knife to her.

How­ever, the of­fend­ers fled be­liev­ing that the po­lice had been called and noth­ing was stolen.

Thames Val­ley Po­lice said that the of­fend­ers are de­scribed as both be­ing male in be­tween 25 and 30.

One was around 6ft tall, with a medium build, dressed in a navy blue hooded top with a ban­dana or scarf cov­er­ing his face.

The other was de­scribed as be­ing around 5ft 4ins, with a medium build, dressed in a grey hooded top and dark jeans.

Robert Simp­son-Jones, of Force-CID at New­bury sta­tion, said: “This was a scary ex­pe­ri­ence for the vic­tim in this case.

“We are ap­peal­ing for any­one who be­lieves they may have some in­for­ma­tion re­lat­ing to this to come forward.

“Any amount of in­for­ma­tion would be help­ful with our in­ves­ti­ga­tion.”
