Jonathan’s drive gets him to Blackpool

The Wokingham Paper - - NEWS -

A BUS driver from Spencers Wood enjoy a visit to Blackpool recently.

But Jonathan Berkolds was not there to watch Strictly in the ballroom: he was on hand to showcase his driving skills.

The Reading Buses driver was competing in the national bus driver of the year contest in the popular seaside resort.

Sadly it wasn’t a case of kiss me quick, and squeeze me slowly as he finished 37th out of the 92 entrants.

The 31-year-old’s ticket to entry was being a runner-up in Reading Buses’ internal competition.

He was supported at the event by members of the company’s training academy.

Mr Berkolds (pictured left) has been part of the Reading Buses team for four years and the company couldn’t be prouder of him.

Caroline Anscombe, Reading Buses HR Director, said: “This competition is one of the toughest in the industry so for Jonathan to be around the top third in the country is a massive achievement at his first attempt.

“He kept calm all the way through the competition and managed to perform exceptionally well.

“He has done us proud and we look forward to seeing if he can qualify for next year and still further improve his performance.”
