Short­list for Twyford awards re­vealed

THE SHORT­LIST has been an­nounced for a com­mu­nity award scheme.

The an­nual event is or­gan­ised by Twyford To­gether and has sought nom­i­na­tions in a host of cat­e­gories from vil­lage res­i­den­nts.

Now the nom­i­nees have an anx­ious wait to find out if they have been named the win­ners.

The awards will be pre­sented by Gor­don Storey from Twyford To­gether on Mon­day, Septem­ber 24 at Bu­ratta’s at The Royal Oak.

The nom­i­nees

BUSI­NESS OF THE YEAR: Mu­sic Made Fear­less, Emma’s Kitchen Twyford, New­days Phar­macy.

CIT­I­ZEN OF THE YEAR: Twyford Par­ish Coun­cill will be an­nounc­ing the win­ner of this award on the night.

YOUNG CIT­I­ZEN OF THE YEAR:

Kitty Holmes, Wil­liam Hawkins, Cara Win­ter­burn.

VOL­UN­TEER OF THE YEAR: Gerry and Chris Wise (Twyford and Rus­combe Lo­cal His­tory So­ci­ety and Adopt-AStreet), Bill Barnes (Church war­den at St James Church, Rus­combe), Tilly Les­leyAnne Har­ris (1st Twyford Scouts).

COM­MU­NITY GROUP OF THE YEAR: Twyford Twin­ning As­so­ci­a­tion, Wings for Sin­gle Par­ents and their Fam­i­lies, War­grave & Twyford Com­mu­nity First Re­spon­ders.

EVENT OF THE YEAR: Twyford & Dis­trict Round Ta­ble Bon­fire Car­ni­val, Twyford To­gether Christ­mas Fayre, 1st Twyford Scouts’ Don­key Derby

SPORTS PER­SON OF THE YEAR:

Dean Cooper (Twyford Comets), Anna Boni­face (Ath­lete and Marathon Run­ner).

TWYFORD IN BLOOM AWARD: The Col­leton Pri­mary School, Wendy and Ian Stafford, Gra­ham Starkie.

The awards are open to the Twyford com­mu­nity and the event is spon­sored by West­gate Elec­tri­cal Ser­vices Lim­ited.
