U23s enjoy cup tie success
READING made a winning return to the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup with a 2-0 victory at Bracknell Town.
The Royals sent their Under-23s to Larges Lane on Tuesday night with over 1,000 fans in attendance to see them emerge victorious with goals from Shamar Moore and Ben House.
It is the first time Reading have entered this competition since 2002 and they were made to work for their victory against an in-form Bracknell side.
Moore broke the deadlock in the first half but the hosts came agonisingly close when Joel Jacobs struck the crossbar while Joe Gater, Adam Cornell and Kensley Maloney were all guilty of misses.
But the Royals soaked up the pressure and grabbed a late second goal as House rounded goalkeeper Mark Scott to score in what proved to be Carl Davies’ final game as Bracknell boss after he took the decision to step down and focus solely on his playing career.
It was the second win this week for Scott Marshall’s U23s having also dispatched of Fulham 3-0 with goals from Callum Harriott, Pelle Clement and Tom McIntyre.
