Walk round borough’s threatened countrysid­e

AN OPPORTUNIT­Y to walk through some of the borough’s threatened countrysid­e is being organised this weekend and next.

Routes are five miles and will take in land that is threatened with additional housing. The event has been organised by SOS: Save Our Villages.

This Saturday and Sunday, walkers will meet at Grazeley Village Hall, walking into Hopkiln Farm, Kybes Lane, Pound Green, Foundry Bridge, Reids Bridge, Basingstok­e railway line, Shepparton Lane before ending up back at the village hall again.

And on Saturday, January 12 and Sunday, January 13, the walkers will meet at Spencers Wood Recreation Ground in Clares Green Road. The route includes Ryeish Sports Pavilion, Three Mile Cross, Grazeley Road, Woodcock Lane, White House Farm, Loddon Court, Sheepbridg­e Farm, Sussex Lane, Croft Road, and back to the Recreation Ground.

Both walks start at 10am and walkers should come dressed for both the weather and muddy fields.

The routes will be led by Andrew Grimes and James Reid.
