98-YEAR-OLD DIES IN ROAD COLLISION

A 98-YEAR-OLD woman who was hit by a car in Wokingham has died in hospital.

The incident happened in Oxford Road around 3pm on Saturday, December 22 and police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

In a statement, Thames Valley Police said that the woman, who has not yet been named, was walking along Oxford Road when she was involved in a collision with a Citroen Picasso.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his seventies, was uninjured.

An Air Ambulance took the woman to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, but sadly died.

Her family have been informed.

Police closed the road for several hours to conduct an investigat­ion.

Investigat­ing officer Police Sergeant Grant Thomas of the Thames Valley Roads Policing Team based in Taplow, said: “Firstly, my thoughts go out to the family of the woman who has sadly died in this incident.

“Secondly, I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area at that time.”
