County to get rocking

BERKSHIRE will again compete in the 2019 Girls Golf Rocks programme.

Five new counties in Cornwall, Hampshire, Lancashire, Lincolnshire and Worcestershire have also signed up to make it 26 counties taking part to try and get more girls into golf.

Clubs will offer free taster sessions, starting in May, followed by coaching courses with PGA professionals.

Over 1,650 girls attended sessions in 2018 with 1,200 of those going on to the coaching courses.

Last year there were sessions at Goring and Streatley, Mill Ride, Sand Martins in Wokingham and Reading Golf Club.
