New deputy po­lice chief an­nounced

CHIEF In­spec­tor Dar­ran Hill has been ap­pointed as the new

Deputy Com­man­der for neigh­bour­ing Read­ing Lo­cal Polic­ing Area (LPA).

On Tues­day, Jan­uary 1, Ch Insp Hill took over from Emma Bur­roughs, who trans­ferred to Force In­tel­li­gence and Spe­cial­ist Op­er­a­tions, fol­low­ing her pro­mo­tion to Su­per­in­ten­dent.

On his new po­si­tion, Ch Insp Hill said: “I am re­ally ex­cited to be­come the Deputy Com­man­der for Read­ing.

“We have an in­cred­i­bly ded­i­cated and tal­ented team and it is a priv­i­lege to be given the op­por­tu­nity to sup­port them in their com­mit­ment to keep­ing the town safe.

“My pri­or­i­ties are to sup­port and de­velop our of­fi­cers, staff and vol­un­teers to en­sure we con­tinue to pro­vide the best pos­si­ble ser­vice for our neigh­bour­hoods. “I will also be fo­cussing our work on ef­fec­tive part­ner­ships, in­ter­ven­tion and in­ves­ti­ga­tion to help pro­tect the most vul­ner­a­ble and tar­get those who cause harm within our com­mu­ni­ties.”

Ch Insp Hill, who pre­vi­ously worked in Se­ri­ous and Or­gan­ised Crime unit, brings more than 24 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence span­ning ma­jor crime and counter ter­ror­ism. He has worked for Thames Val­ley Po­lice since 2009.
