Vandals wreck car park machine

USERS of a Wokingham town centre car park have been forced to use RingGo after vandals wrecked the payment machines.

The attack took place just before Christmas.

Cllr Pauline Jorgensen, executive member for highways and transport, said: “Machines at Cockpit Lane were vandalised beyond repair, leaving RingGo as the only method of payment available.

“Theft and vandalism are serious problems which cause a significant financial loss to the local council taxpayer, so we’re looking at more secure and robust alternatives.

“All other Wokingham Borough Council-owned car parks in Wokingham town centre still have a pay and display option.”
