Angell’s nightmare start

Eversley and California 0 Tooting Bec 3

-

THERE was no dream start as Boars boss for Matt Angell as his new side were well beaten by Tooting Bec.

Replacing Ellis Woods, Angell and assistant Ash Cunningham took to the dugout for the first time at Fox Lane and despite a goalless first half, could not prevent defeat.

Angell made four changes for his first game in charge, handing starts to Mark Bailey, Ryan Whyte, Stephen Peacock and Clive Akem Che with Brandon Blair, Jordan Jones, James Pople and Peter Shay all dropping out of the side which lost against Epsom and Ewell.

After a quite start Brad Brown testing the Tooting keeper but the first half passed with few chances for either side.

The visitors arrived 18 points ahead of Eversley at kick-off and the quality showed after the restart with Kieran Patel bagging a brace and Myles Blenkinsop also on target.

Akem Che was closest in reply, but curled a good chance wide of the post.

The Boars, who sit 14th, go to eighth-placed Dorking Wanderers Reserves on Saturday (3pm).
