TRIO WOW VOICE JUDGES

- By JAMES HASTINGS

TWO girls who teach singing in Wokingham have made it through to the finals of the Voice UK.

TWO teachers from a Bracknell theatre school have made it through to the finals of The Voice UK.

They wowed all four judges last Saturday on the hit TV show with their band, Remember Monday.

Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele were joined by their friend, Lauren Byrne, to perform Seal’s number one hit, Kiss From A Rose.

The band is the first trio to make the final and will now be coached by superstar Jennifer Hudson.

Speaking exclusively to The Wokingham Paper, Holly-Anne who is a vocal coach with the BARTA Theatre Academy in Bracknell described their appearance as “a dream come true.”

“We actually decided to totally commit to the band before we knew about The Voice. And the moment we saw The Voice were accepting trios for 2019 we thought well this is a sign.

“It was absolutely terrifying stepping out on the stage. Thank goodness we had each other. Seeing all four judges turn round was just crazy. We can’t believe one turned let alone four.

“We decided to join Team J Hud because she threw a shoe. We had to go to J Hud Productions, she’s the only female coach and we’re all about girl power.”

Holly-Anne added the band had “grafted and gigged” for years and the moment they went on stage they knew that was what they had been working for.

“It’s the most important thing we have ever done as a band and it’s such a huge deal. We just wanted to enjoy every single second.”

Holly-Anne graduated with a distinction from The London School of Musical Theatre and has only recently returned from performing in Singapore on the Les Mis Asia Tour.

In 2008, she won The Disney channels televised talent competition My Camp Rock later releasing a single and video.

Charlotte, who is a voice coach and also teaches dance started performing professionally when she was eight and made her West End debut at 10 years old.

Her credits include playing Jane Banks in Mary Poppins and was an All England Dance Finals Winner 2013.

The three girls have performed together since college and hope their appearance on The Voice is the next big step.

Dean Penn, who founded the BARTA academy said the students and staff were delighted Remember Monday had made the final.

“Everyone is rooting for them. They are all so talented.

“It was amazing that all four judges turned round but the girls went for Jennifer as she was the first one to do so.”
