Youngsters Steppin Out to Disneyland Paris

-

FOR talented youngsters from across the borough, Easter was one to remember – they swapped Wokingham for Disneyland.

And for this Mickey Mouse operation, honed to precision, the 20 dancers performed at a sell-out show on the main stage of the popular Paris resort.

The youngsters were all members of the Steppin Out Stars of Tomorrow! stage school, which offers lessons in Wokingham, Woodley and Wargrave.

For their set, which had firm approval from the House of the Mouse, they performed a 20-minute version of hoedown, Wild West and Footloose dances and songs on the Videopolis stage in the centre of the resort.

And in the audience were holidaymakers from all over the world as well as the Steppin Out cast’s friends and families.

It wasn’t all work: they also managed to sneak a few rides when not performing.

“The weekend was a huge success,” said entrepreneur Shelley Otway, who runs the stage school.

“Lifelong memories and friendships were created and we had some fantastic feedback from Disney and the performing arts team in Paris.”

Nine-year-old Zara Patterson attends the Wokingham branch on Saturday afternoons and loved the Paris experience. She said: “Disney was so magical and will be something I remember forever.”

The next date for Steppin Out is the May Fayre on Monday. Not only will they be performing, but Shelley and her team will be on hand to meet families – their stall will be close to the main stage.
