Have a play with clay

-

ANYONE who watched the Potter’s Wheel round of the Generation Game and has harboured a longcherished ambition to have a go themselves are in luck, thanks to a local learning institution.

Reading College is to hold two free ceramics workshops on Saturday, May 18.

Held in conjunction with Hey Clay!, part of the Crafts Council’s Get Creative campaign, the sessions will give people the chance to try ceramics.

Beginners can enjoy a tile making session where they will design, create and fire their own decorative tile.

Experienced artists or sculptors are invited to a life modelling class where they will be working in clay.

The tile making session will take place 10am–1pm and the life modelling class from 2pm-5pm. Both sessions are open to participants aged 19 upwards. Places are limited and booking is essential.

Anna Glanville-Smith, a Creative Arts Faculty Manager at Reading College, says it will be nice to see you, to see you nice.

She added:

“Clay is such a rewarding material to work with, but requires specialist equipment in order to turn into fired ceramics.”

“At Reading College, we have both the equipment and expertise to help you start a great new pottery hobby.

“Come along to the free

Hey Clay! workshops to try ceramics out for yourself, and create your own beautiful work of art.”
