Samples being served at new Sit & Sip room

- By JOHN WAKEFIELD

MORE than 100 different types of bottled and canned beers and lagers will be available when one of the first Peach Place businesses opens its doors for the first time on Friday.

And one of the first customers will be borough mayor John Kaiser – he will cut the ribbon to the new Sit & Sip Tasting Room at 12.30pm, ahead of doors opening to the public at 5pm.

And there’s more than just beer: the Tasting Room will serve carefully selected drinks including gins and spirits, plus food produce from local businesses including Siren Craft Brew in Finchampstead and the West Berkshire Brewery.

To help customers find the right craft beer or gin for them, Sit & Sip serves special beer paddle or gin flights.

Customers can select from 14 craft beers on tap, ranging from some of the traditional, through to the non-mainstream, such as a Blueberry and Maple stout and a Hypergalactic IPA, made by an allfemale brewery that champions women in craft beer.

Sit & Sip will also be offering a selection of food to accompany the drinks on offer, with customers again being able to create their own tasting boards from a selection of cold meats, bread and cheeses.

Customers to the Tasting Room over this weekend will be treated to samples of the meats and cheeses soon to be on offer.

Sit & Sip owner James Mattingley said: “This weekend we’re going to give people the opportunity to sample some of the food and drink that we have carefully selected.”

He added: “We are thrilled to be opening our doors to the people of Wokingham on Friday and can’t wait to see what everyone thinks of Sit & Sip.

“The team at Sit & Sip is excited to be a part of the town centre regeneration and this important story in Wokingham’s history.”

It’s not all about the beer and spirits as the Tasting Room will open from 9am at weekends to serve a range of specialist coffees, such as cold brew coffee, naughty lattes and superfood brews. Sit & Sip have collaborated with ‘TrueStart Coffee’ a small batch coffee producer, who they have worked with to provide an innovative funky coffee offering.

And for those who really can’t decide, there is a takeaway service available.
