Madrigals evening

AN EVENING of English Madrigals will be performed in Beech Hill later this month.

Newbury-based Cantemus choir will be visiting the church of St Mary the Virgin in Beech Hill Road on Saturday, May 11.

Starting at 7.30pm, the programme includes Elgar’s From the Bavarian Highlands, a selection of 16th century madrigals on May flowers, a medley from George Gershwin’s musical Porgy and Bess, and some lighter music such as the sea shanty What Shall We Do With the Drunken Sailor.
