Riding club’s success

WOKINGHAM and Bearwood Riding Club enjoyed a winning day at the British Riding Club Winter Championsh­ip at Bury Farm, Buckingham­shire, last weekend with a total of six National Champions.

The senior team stormed the Intermedia­te Senior Winter Dressage as they gained a historic victory. As well as the team win, Sarah Gee won her prelim class, Liz Jenkins won her Novice class and Tricia Smith won her Elementary class.

WBRC achieved an unpreceden­ted accomplish­ment in the history of the Intermedia­te Championsh­ip with the amount of winners from one riding club and was the second year that WBRC have won the Intermedia­te Senior Winter Dressage Championsh­ip.

Dressage Team Manager Sarah Thomas said: “It’s a truly amazing result, and for the second year in a row.

“I am the proudest team manager ever.”

Ian Spalding, also from the WBRC, defeated 92 competitor­s to become National Champion in the

100 Intermedia­te Show Jumping National Championsh­ip.

“I can’t believe it, I’ve never won anything in my life,” said Ian.
