Hints in Rhyme
Recently, in sorting out papers, I found a small recipe book dated 1934 and sold for the Sale of Work – an annual event – at St Andrew’s Church, Batley. The book is entitled “Saintly Recipes” and includes ones for Raspberry Fingers, Jelly Snow and Guards Pudding. Amongst the recipes is printed the enclosed “Hints In Rhyme” which I think is evocative of that period and will interest readers of “This England”.
