A WINTER’S TALE

-

When the much heralded V Day or vaccine day arrived here just before Christmas there was much mirth as the second recipient of the vaccination had the memorable name of William Shakespeare – and he hailed from Warwickshire. Cue the jokes and puns. Among our favourites were The Taming of the Flu and, of course, that new Shakespeare classic: The Two Gentlemen of Corona. One very clever soul @ProfPeterDolton tweeted an imagined conversation between William and the nurse: Nurse: Which arm?

WS: As You Like It

Nurse: Was that painful? WS: Much Ado About Nothing

Nurse: So what do you think of the government handling of COVID?

WS: Comedy of Errors. But seriously, what a fantastic achievement to be rolling out two vaccines so soon, and let’s very much hope that by our summer issue things are looking far more normal.
