HOUSES OF THE NATIONAL TRUST
If you find yourself turning to our regular Historic Homes feature as soon as you pick up your copy of This England, this book is bound to delight. Over 300 houses are presented in alphabetical order alongside stunning photography, as well as other Trust buildings, be it windmills and watermills or monuments and follies. A useful reference map is also included. Revised and updated, this is the fourth edition by Lydia Greeves, who still makes little attempt to explore some of the buildings’ more unpalatable histories, as begun in the Trust’s controversial report at the end of last year. Still, it remains an inspiring guide. Pavilion, £20; ISBN: 978-1-911-65711-8
