JUBILEE WEEKEND EVENTS
The Platinum Jubilee Parade
A Jubilee Trooping of the Colour will see more than 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians starting at Buckingham Palace, go down the Mall to Horse Guards Parade to mark HM The Queen’s official birthday. There will also be a flypast and the Royal Family will be on the balcony at Buckingham Palace. Thursday 2 June
Jubilee Beacons
Look out for the 1,500 beacons that will be lit throughout the country, and for the first time in the capitals of the Commonwealth countries. Thursday 2 June
Platinum Party at the Palace Although you’re too late now to apply for tickets, the “party” or concert will be covered by the BBC. The full line-up has yet to be announced – George Ezra is the only act confirmed so far – but musically it will be a mix of pop, rock, opera and orchestra on a spectacular stage set up in front of Buckingham Palace. There will also be plenty of famous faces from stage and screen to tell the story of the Queen’s most significant cultural moments. As well as the option of watching at home, there will be a party atmosphere at outdoor screens set up across the UK. Saturday 4 June
The Jubilee Pageant
The streets around Buckingham Palace will be full to bursting with more than 5,000 performers from the worlds of street arts, theatre, music, carnival and costume. Expect a celebratory atmosphere.
Sunday 5 June
The Big Jubilee Lunch
Now for the interactive bit! Get out the bunting and trestle tables ready for a feast in the sun (hopefully – remember the rain from the 2012 Jubilee?). Villages and towns up and down the land will be taking part in celebratory street parties, barbecues and garden parties. Sunday 5 June
