Curated by Paloma Alarcó, Chief Curator of Modern Painting at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid, and Jon-Ove Steihaug, Senior Curator and Acting Head of Exhibitions and Collections of the Munch Museet, Oslo, the show will examine Edvard Munch’s long and prolific career through 80 works by the painter, half of them from the collection of the Munch Museet.
Edvard Munch. Archetypes will ultimately analyse the artistic strategies used by the painter to orient space towards a psychic dimension and convert his compositions into a lasting truth that symbolises the human condition.
