Even though Croatia is in the EU, it has its own currency. Euros are accepted by some businesses, but this is entirely on an unofficial basis.

Currency: The currency in Croatia is the Kuna (Kn) = 100 lipas. Notes are in denominations of 1000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10 and 5. Kuna coins come as 1, 2, 5 and 25. Lipa coins come as 1,2, 5, 10, 20 and 50. ATMs are widely available throughout Croatia.

Credit cards: MasterCard, Diners and Visa are accepted in larger establishments.

Traveller’s cheques are not widely accepted and can only be exchanged in banks.
