An exhibition of Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988), one of the most significant painters of the 20th century, will cover the painter’s whole career, from 1980 to 1988, focusing on 120 defining works. At the same time, there will be a major exhibition of the Austrian painter Egon Schiele (1890-1918). Composed of around 80 drawings, watercolours and paintings, this solo show of his work is a first in Paris for 25 years.

Both painters died aged 28 and in under a decade became major figures in the art of their century. They are linked by their destiny and their fortune, that of a short-lived body of work, the impact and permanency of which have few equals.

Jean-Michel Basquiat. Grillo, 1984 Egon Schiele. Self-Portrait, Head, 1910.
