The greens provide the highlight – they run fast and are extremely difficult with some big slopes, notably on the 11th. Most tees are flanked by gorse but you’re not affected by other players when teeing off.

The course was great. The little things shone through like the pond on the 2nd being well maintained and advertising the wildlife that lived there. Divots on both tee boxes and fairways were evenly filled with sand.

The front nine rewards good shots but the back nine can really bite if not played well – there are no par 5s on the back half which makes it tough and some of the par 4s were very long on the windy day I played.

The driving range was nice with a huge dip in the middle and the mats were good while the putting green was comparable with the course.

It was a stress-free booking – a quick phone call after being put through to the right person straight away and we were sorted. I experienced only friendliness the whole day.

There was a good choice of hot and cold food and the post-round sandwiches went down well. I enjoyed the nice views overlooking the 18th green from the neat and tidy clubhouse.

Clean and tidy with lots of space to change and shower. We were then able to walk out of the other side straight to the range and putting green. Very convenient.

Very fair in my view and I’ve since been back to play the nine-hole Forest course, a fantastic treat with long holes and tough greens.

After hearing a new greenkeeper has been appointed, I decided to give it a go and the course was fantastic. I have high hopes for Woodbridge and expect to see it back to its best with new expertise in place.
