To shoot at and find the green we nat­u­rally we need clean con­tact; even a few grains of sand be­tween face and ball can com­pletely muf­fle the strike. If you can’t see the bot­tom of the ball, choose a safer line that means heavy con­tact is not too se­verely pun­ished; if the ball is ly­ing cleanly, there is noth­ing to stop you at­tack­ing the green or even the f lag.
