AMATEUR DEFIES ODDS OF 1.9 TRILLION TO ONE
A lady golfer had not one. Not two. But three aces as she defended her club championship title at Croham Hurst Golf Club in Croydon last month. Ali Gibb, who plays off six, made two aces on the same hole – the par-3 5th – before completing her hat-trick on her second visit to the 11th. She ended the 36-hole competition with a nine, two eights, sixes, fives, fours, threes, twos and three ones on her card. “I couldn’t believe what happened,” she told TG. “It felt like a dream and I was in stunned silence. I had had three holes-in-one before, so to double my total in the space of five hours was quite extraordinary.”
