1 IS THE STANCE AND LIE A HELP OR HINDRANCE?

To make effective contact with a driver off the turf, your attack angle needs to be as close to level as possible. Hit up and you’ll thin the ball; hit down and you’ll smother it. Because this attack angle leaves so little margin for error, only take the shot on when your stance is flat and promoting that level attack. The lie of course needs to be clean, with plenty of the lower half of the ball visible.
