IT STARTS WITH THE GRIP

-

Every golfer I work with spends as much time trying out new grips as they do new clubs and new balls,” says David Leadbetter. “But like clubheads and shafts, there is no onesize-fits-all when it comes to grips, and often it’s about what feels comfortable. That’s why Golf Pride is the No.1 grip on Tour because they have a wide range of products to suit different preferences and climatic conditions. Very rarely do they discontinue a line, and that’s because every grip is top drawer. “ALIGN Technology has been a game-changer because the reminder ridge acts as a training aid and helps to put the grip in the right position in the left hand, every time. When you transition into the downswing, you also feel it through the trigger finger which helps to delay the release. The advantages stack up and if you’re serious about cutting your handicap, a reminder grip will put you on the right – and same – path of players like Rory

Mcilroy.”

What is ALIGN Technology?

Years ago, before the USGA and R&A implemented equipment standards and limits, Tour players utilised tremendously pronounced reminder ribs in golf grips. This greatly assisted in consistent positioning of their hands on the grip. Golf Pride’s ALIGN Technology takes that idea to the next (legal) level. As the name implies, it is a tactile cue that helps you properly place your hands and fingers on the grip, through a raised, red ridge that runs vertically along the underside of the grip. The ALIGN reminder is made from a micro-diamond-textured material that is firmer than the material used to create the rest of the grip. In addition, a white “flex channel” raises this ridge from the body of the grip to the highest level allowed by the rules (no more than 0.040 inches).

Why a repeatable grip is so important

“A repeatable grip is critical for many of the best players in the world, as one out of every three PGA Tour players currently use a grip with a reminder rib,” says Jonathan Neal, Global Marketing Manager at Golf Pride. “However, they uniformly provided us with feedback that they want it more pronounced. That insight led us to develop ALIGN Technology to help every golfer feel alignment.”
