6 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE NEW TITLEIST TS WOODS

-

1 Ultra-thin titanium crown

Where other brands now use carbon-fibre, Titleist insists titanium is still king. The TS crown is 20% thinner than the 917, which allows more weight to be shifted lower and deeper.

2 Streamlined shape

The new, aerodynamic shaping reduces drag by 20%, allowing golfers to pick up club speed and more distance.

3 Thinner, faster face

It’s the thinnest face Titleist has ever produced. So thin, in fact, the face grooves need to be lasered on, rather than etched like previous models. Variable thickness frees up to six grams of weight.

4 Optimised weighting

A 12% MOI increase over the previous 917 is pretty impressive. The lowest centre of gravity ever in a Titleist driver offers a higher launch with lower spin, meaning a potent combination of speed and stability.

5 What’s the difference between TS2 and TS3?

TS2 is a wide-body, 460cc driver, which generates a high launch with low spin. It’s also said to be the most forgiving of the pair. TS3 has a more traditional, 460cc pear-shaped head. Shots launch on a mid-trajectory with low spin, and a sole weight enables centre of gravity adjustment.

6 New fairways, too

There are two models and both have titanium crowns to free up weight. A taller Active Recoil Channel maximises ball speeds when shots are hit low on the face.

The TS2 launches high with mid spin;

TS3 gives a mid-launch with low spin.
