Howell’s last win on Tour came at the 2013 Dunhill Links, with partner Hugh Grant.

Howell went toe-totoe with Tiger in Dubai, outgunned him and picked up the nickname “Cool Dude” from the former world No.1.

At the 2004 Ryder Cup, Howell won the European Tour shotof-the-year award for his tee shot on the 17th at Oakland Hills. His 203-yard six-iron ended up five feet from the flag.

Back issues mean regular stretching exercises, but he’s on the mend.
