When drivers were the size of today’s fairway woods, using them from the fairway was a much more favoured option. But as heads have expanded, driver-of-the-deck has become far less common. However, in certain circumstances it can still be an effective weapon, one that allows you to use fairway firmness and cheat headwinds.
