BACKSWING: PRESERVE LOFT

Use your hands, arms and wrists to make a compact backswing, your lead arm no higher than horizontal. Use a full wrist cock to allow you to hinge the clubhead back down sharply into the sand. Keep the loft on the clubface by creating a kink in your gloved-hand wrist. The clubface should look back down at your head.
