Al­most like a javelin thrower, the plant­ing of the lead foot sets that ground-up se­quence in mo­tion and pro­vides a solid plat­form from which to de­liver power. Padraig Har­ring­ton phys­i­cally lifts his lead foot off the ground mo­men­tar­ily to en­cour­age the process... but if this is a step too far for you, here is a great way to visu­alise a sim­i­lar mo­tion.
