JACKLIN WANTS COLOUR-CODED BALLS TO LIMIT DISTANCE

Today's Golfer (UK) - - FIRST TEE -

Tony Jacklin has a novel idea to tackle golf’s distance debate, and it involves using squash balls as a template. The Ryder Cup legend wants golf to copy the racket-based sport by using colour-coded balls to distinguish the professional game from the amateur one. “Let’s have one colour for the ball that goes the furthest, then cut the distance by 20 or 30 percent and use a different colour,” he says. “You would get round quicker while courses would be shorter and less expensive to run.”
