SOLVED HOW FLUID MOTION FACTOR ACCOUNTS FOR GOLF’S MYSTERIES

-

Why does a swing thought that worked well yesterday not work today?

Because yesterday you were generating that thought from the coherent, quiet side of the brain and ‘wholeness’ was not broken. Today, because the thought worked so well, you make it what I call ‘the star of the show’, breaking mental wholeness and weakening the brain. Your brain works optimally when all the elements of the shot – a swing thought, a shot shape, a distance and so on – are blended into a whole picture. You have to make a ‘golf smoothie’ before you pull the trigger.

Why is my second, reload shot always so much better than my initial effort?

Because you tried to control the ball on the first swing, with too much conscious thought. On the second ball you just dropped it down and hit it; your intentions were created in a different part of the brain, the correct use of the brain’s motor system kicked in and synced up your swing.

Why does golf seem so easy when I’m playing well and so difficult when I’m playing badly?

Because when you correctly use the part of the brain responsible for syncing a motion – the cerebellum – a thousand complex calculations are done for you and the swing takes care of itself. Over-use the wrong part – the prefrontal cortex – and you are trying to create order from chaos.
