Thracian Cliffs

A DECADE OF WORLD-CLASS GOLF

-

The breathtaking Bulgarian clifftop course has been offering Insta-worthy moments for 10 years

Thracian Cliffs is one of the most important projects in Gary Player’s design portfolio, a portfolio boasting nearly 400 courses spanning around the globe.

The signature design layout forms the core of Thracian Cliffs Golf & Beach Resort, spread across a dramatic rocky terrain along the Bulgarian Black Sea. Officially opened in 2011, Thracian Cliffs will mark its first decade on the world golf map this June with a massive party and tournament programme.

The Resort will host the region’s biggest golf championships – Bulgarian Amateur Open and Cape Kaliakra Open, followed by a series of club tournaments and open-air beach events.

Unlike most new courses, Thracian Cliffs gained wide popularity and headed golf rankings soon after its opening, prominently featured within the Top 100 Continental Europe charts.

Recognised as one of the world’s most visually outstanding layouts – the signature 18-hole course is sculptured to fit perfectly into the natural landscape as if it has been there forever.

What makes the course unique is the striking sea views from every single hole. The multiple tee locations provide an exceptional experience for golfers of all levels and the black tees allows the course to be set up in championship mode, altering the length and the difficulty of each hole.

It is easy to see why Thracian Cliffs hosted the Volvo World Match Play Championship in 2013 – won by Graeme Mcdowell – and grabbed the ‘Best Golf Resort – Europe 2014’ award by IAGTO.

The unique location and open-air concept of the resort coupled with the favourable weather makes Thracian Cliffs the perfect choice not only for a golf trip with the pals but also for a relaxing family holiday.

In such challenging times when social distance and open spaces redefine true comfort and luxury, Thracian Cliffs has lots to offer on and off the course. The overcrowded holiday spots are no longer an option, that is why the ‘hidden gem’ status and authentic charm of the resort is proving so alluring, especially to those who seek a complete destination experience with all-around services.

The lodging at Thracian Cliffs is spread across two charming villages – Marina and Hillside, inspired by the ancient Bulgarian seaside settlements. Suites are spacious, some exceeding 200 sq/m and offering from one to three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, elegant open-plan living room, big terraces with epic views.

In contrast with the huge hotels with countless rooms per floor, the suites here are in separate buildings, only two to three units per level, providing true privacy and comfort to its guests.

At Thracian Cliffs the views and nature play the leading role in your experience. Off the course guests enjoy a range of six fine dining venues and a night club, two sandy beaches, boutique spa, infinity pools, shopping zone and a full-service pro shop, all presented against a backdrop of breathtaking scenery.

The beaches adjacent to the resort – Argata and Bendida – are left untouched only enhanced with comfy cabanas, lounge chairs and hammocks. The exotic beach restaurants offer cold drinks day and night just meters off the waves, and fresh seasonal food, fish and mussels harvested right in front of the golf course.

And with 280 sunny days per year, you are likely to be enjoying your stay in the sunshine. So, smile and have fun!
