Guerin Rife is like the mad scientist of putters – in a good way. He founded Rife in 1997, before selling up to start Evnroll in 2015, and he has more great ideas than he knows what to do with.

Those ideas are very apparent within Evnroll’s line-up. With face grooves that

CLASSIC

£379

Look at any putter range from any manufacturer and there are always mainstay options that form the foundation for other models to build off; the Classic is Evnroll’s. All the hosels in this five-model family are fixed (with each shape available in a black or silver satin finish), so if you want to tailor a specific model to your stroke shape the V-series could well be a better option.

V-SERIES

‘gear’ off-centre putts back online, grips that give the sensation of holding the putter face in your hand, and the highest MOI putter available all featuring in the 2023 line-up, Evnroll really are on a design roll.

Evnroll specialise in letting golfers play a putter the way they want to play it, so the V-series has seven models, six hosels and three finishes. It’s a heck of a line-up that lets you choose any head and hosel combo.

Heads range from narrow blades, to players’ mid-mallets and compact high MOI models, so there is something for everyone. Hosel choices range from short (which gives high levels of toe hang – good for golfers who typically miss left) to mid, moderate toe hang, and long (which offers slight toe hang – preferred by golfers who miss right). Adjustable weights on the sole also allow for precise swing weighting.

with off-centre strikes, so the ball doesn’t lose energy and travels the same distance as on-centre hits. And thanks to the shape of the grooves, Rife says putts get geared back onto their target line, too. All Evnroll putters come with the tech built in, and every design in milled in the USA.

We’d never recommended an armlock putter until we tested the Midlock in 2021. Rife’s idea is different to others’, in that he’s pioneered an arch-shaped grip, so you can use a 6in longer putter (which for us was 40in rather than 34) and simply lie the grip up against the forearm while putting.

It’s really simple, yet it gives a very locked-in feel, and because of how you hold the putter, it prevents your wrists breaking down at impact. It’s so good, in fact, we couldn’t believe how unnatural a standard putter felt after using the Midlock... If your putting is in the doldrums, the five-model Midlock family throws you a lifeline.

ZERO

£425

Creating the game’s highest MOI putters has been a bit of a mission for Rife, as he’s dabbled with all sorts of ideas to put the most stable flatsticks into golfers’ hands.

The latest model is the Zero, a funky-shaped, lightweight aluminium head with heavy steel weighting in the four corners, and a hollow, ball-sized hole in the middle to up its alignment credentials.

It’s available in a zero torque set-up, where the shaft joins the putter at the back of the head, creating a face that naturally wants to point where you aim. There’s also a slant-neck model with 18° toe hang, so this ultra stable design can suit various stroke types.
