Scotty Cameron’s stock has only risen since he first started making putters in 1991.

His breakthrough came with Bernhard Langer winning the 1993 US Masters using a Scotty prototype. Soon after, Acushnet came knocking, signing him up to create putters exclusively for Titleist. Things hit a

It took Cameron ages to crack the MOI market, but with the likes of Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay and Will Zalatoris now using Phantom X models, it’s safe to say he has moved with the times. Phantom X putters are made from multiple materials to maximise forgiveness, so expect a 303 stainless steel face/body with lighter weight 6061 aluminium core and two sole weights for tinkering.

There are five core Phantom X head shapes, each with either a small slant, low or mid-single bend, or straight shaft option to give varying looks at address and different toe hangs. His calling card is 100% CNC milling, as he’s the guy who’s brought some of golf’s best putters to life as milled models. Today, Titleist offer two Scotty Cameron families; the classic and traditional Super Select, and the more modern, higher MOI Phantom X line-up.

SCOTTY CAMERON SUPER SELECT

Learning how to CNC mill putters such as the Newport and Newport 2, which were originally based on popular Ping models, made Cameron famous. The latest line-up of Super Select models hit the market in 2023 and there are six blade heads and three mallet-style models to choose from.

From top to bottom the Super Select family is all about creating the most desirable and aspirational putters out there. The franchise dines out on sleek appearances, crisp edges and flowing curves,

The Newport and Newport 2 have been Cameron’s most popular models for years now, but in 2023, with wide-body blade putters trending upwards, there’s a new plus-sized Newport and Newport 2, which nudge up forgiveness and look a little less intimidating.

Scotty Cameron has never really bought into inserts or face grooves, so each Super Select model comes with a simple milled face and a fuss-free misted, stainless steel finish.
