dear Sir,

Will the 997.2 depreciate to the same level as the Gen1 cars? It is considered the more reliable, better quality car. Will that hold values?

It’s a question we get asked a lot here at

Total 911. In our opinion, the Gen2 won’t ever drop to Gen1 levels as they are, broadly speaking, more reliable cars and don’t suffer from the Ims/bore scoring issues which blight the reputations of Gen1s. Furthermore, the Gen2 boasts more performance from essentially the same looking car, with no additional computer intrusion – there’s no divisive changes like the introduction of turbocharged engines with the 991.1 to 991.2 generations. It is for this reason we think the 997.2 generation, generally speaking, has a very rosy future ahead of it indeed.
