992 GT3 takes to the ‘Ring

Naturally aspirated GT3 seen with production body for the first time

-

The 992 era may have only just officially been launched, but Porsche has continued apace with development of its first GT car of the new generation, the GT3. Seen here in testing out on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the mule captured by Total 911’s spies is seen using its production body for the first time. The usual GT3 design traits of an air vent ahead of the front bonnet and fixed rear wing are evident. The 992’s full-width rear light is evident for the first time on a GT3, and though testers have tried to cover it up we can see the car sporting a doublestacked wing with a more prominent ducktail-style panel sitting beneath the customary fixed wing. Obvious styling to the bottom of the rear PU are also evident in line with GT3 DNA, with Porsche staying loyal to a twin centreexit exhaust.

It is expected Porsche’s GT3 will remain naturally aspirated for the 992 generation, utilising what has been mooted as an improved version of the 4.0-litre flat six found under the decklid of the 991.2 with approximately 550hp. Expected as a 2020 model year, the 992 GT3’S possible debut could be the IAA at Frankfurt in September.
