Model 997 Cup Year 2014 Acquired December 2016 Model 991.2 GT3 RS Year 2018 Acquired May 2018

By the time you read this Christmas will be done and we’ll be into a new year. I feel it is also time to move on and allow space for other writers in the ‘Living the Legend’ section to contribute their unique perspective of these amazing cars. My time sharing stories and adventures in various 911 models has been great fun for me, and I hope to many readers as well. My love of the brand is deep and long may that remain. I hope to be driving a 992 GT3 RS or GT2 RS sometime in the next two years when they finally get launched.

With the 997 Turbo S long gone, my fantastic Cayenne diesel also sold and the 991.1 Carrera Cabriolet with my ex, it’s now time to move on from the 997 Cup car. My racing in 2017 was troublesome, though the car is in immaculate condition and ready for someone to take over the fun and enjoyment it brought me. It’s a difficult car to master and drive fast, which was always one of the challenges I deeply sought. I certainly got better with practice, even if I didn’t complete enough races in the GT Cup to make any proper headway or collect any trophies.

It’s a good time of year to put it up for sale as new owners look for their preferred choice for the 2019 season.

It’s been superbly looked after by GT Marques and has a great spares package, so hopefully it won’t sit around for too long. It also makes a superb track day car, and not a lot keeps up with it when you are on Gold Track,

RMA or other top testing type days. Anyone interested please contact me; the car is stored in High Wycombe. With that gone I don’t feel it’s right to hog the pages of LTL until I find a suitable 991 replacement, and then I might be indulged to share more.

My lovely 991.2 GT3 RS hasn’t been used for quite a few weeks now, what with me being away and simply not having enough time at the weekends. I know our Editor doesn’t like me talking about other cars too much, but a new 488 Spider has now arrived in my garage and my attention has drifted to that before the winter sets in. It doesn’t mean I don’t love the RS any less; in fact, it’s so much of a raw machine by comparison, and for that everyday track/ road car combo there probably isn’t a better car you can buy, regardless of price. It’s stunning just to look at and certainly not losing any value. The lovely paintwork will, however, remain covered up under a winter blanket. I do think it’s a great car to try the NC500 with once the roads are clear of snow and ice in 2019. I’ll probably transport it up there first to keep the miles to a sensible level, so I am planning that trip with a few car mates as soon as we can.

With that it’s time to sign off, say thank you to the Editor for indulging me these past 18 plus months on these hallowed pages and wish you all a happy 2019. I am a long-term subscriber to Total 911 and that won’t change at all.
