Bridgestone unveils Potenza Sport
Flagship Potenza Sport tyre brings further choice to the market
The Japanese tyre company, Bridgestone, has announced a new tyre that has been specifically constructed for sports performance cars such as the Porsche 911. Available immediately, the high-performance tyre offers what the company says is excellent capabilities in both wet and dry conditions and will replace the outgoing S001 in the Bridgestone range.
While the tyre does not come with an ’N’ rating, meaning it has been approved by Porsche for use on its sports cars, tyre sizes are available which will fit a variety of 911 models and generations.
Bridgestone’s new tyre will offer more choice for the consumer against rivals such as the Pilot Sport 4 from Michelin, Goodyear’s Eagle F1, and Pirelli’s P Zero.
According to Bridgestone, after tests were carried out by TÜV SÜD, a testing and certification organisation for safety and security, the new Potenza Sport returned a ‘best performance’ in dry braking, cornering and straight line stability versus its aforementioned rivals, as well as in wet cornering and handling. Total 911 hopes to run an independent tyre test in due course.
