Gunther Werks carbon fibre watches launched
Made of carbon fibre from two recycled 993s come a pair of limited-edition timepieces from REC Watches
The 901 GW Collection consists of two Swiss-made timepieces created using recycled carbon fibre parts from a pair of Gunther Werks 993 donor vehicles. Both watches feature a Sellita chronograph movement and a six-piece case infused with former Gunther Werks carbon fibre – granulated and reforged into the middle section of the watch case. The two unusual wrist watches also feature Sapphire Crystal glass, blue luminous hour and minute hands, and a laserengraved and etched stainless steel case back.
Gunther Werks is known for putting a modern twist on the last air-cooled 911, the 993. Founder of the Southern Californian Porsche specialist, Peter Nam, worked in close collaboration with REC Watches to develop these exclusive timepieces. Limited in number, the Chelsea Grey (red/grey) to 232 pieces, the Carbon Exoskeleton (blue/black) to 188 pieces, the collection opens for pre-orders on 23 September 2021 with each watch priced at $2,495 USD (approximately £1,810) – they are available via www.recwatches.com.
