Total 911

GT3 RS gripe?

-

Dear Sir,

Please be aware that a well-specced 992 GT3 RS for the UK market is nowhere near a cost of £265,100, as claimed in your article. Even with the full Weissach package for a very well-specced RS, £219,000 will more than suffice. Try the Configurator yourself!

As an aside, it seems apparent (to me, anyway) from article comments in the past three magazine editions, regarding that model, that it doesn’t seem to have the blessing or acceptance of Total 911. Begrudging acknowledgement of it, at best, seems to sum up what I’ve read so far. Yes, these special GT models usually do end up with well-off Porsche customers, who regularly spend an awful lot of cash with their main dealers over the years and, as such, are – whether you or anyone else likes it – higher up the pecking order when it comes to GT vehicles allocation by Porsche.

I speak from experience, as an oft-disappointed and would-be buyer of GT3S, but I understand how the world works, and don’t get all bitter and twisted when I can’t buy a new one. I just hope I’m not too old to drive by the time more pre-used models drop to list prices.

We’re not sure which of our articles you’re referring to here, Josef, as our coverage of the new model has been overwhelmingly positive. Within the enthusiast sphere we always seek to produce articles that are objective and balanced. We feel we’ve done that with the GT3 RS each and every time we’ve reported it. In reference to the price, £265,100 was the cost of the demo car we drove.
