From sewing 42 identical pairs of silk curtains for a palace in Hyderabad to hanging hand-dyed linen over the double-height windows of a converted Shoreditch warehouse, Lucy Bathurst has brought her talent for working with textiles to properties worldwide. Her company Nest Design has attracted the attention of household names such as the chef Skye Gyngell, for whom she created a set of vintage-lace blinds for Spring Restaurant at Somerset House. ‘I love using antique fabrics in an inventive way that fits into a contemporary setting but gives it soul,’ says Bathurst. ‘Their warmth can transform an architectural space into a home.’ frances hedges www.nestde
