A new show celebrates extravagant edifices from a bygone era
There is something about a lost building that captures the imagination, and Britain’s many demolished follies, temples and country houses form the subject of Ed Kluz’s new exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Inspired by old engravings of ambitious architectural endeavours, his collages are a tribute to the vanished structures of yesteryear. Perhaps the most evocative image of all is his print of the long-lost Belle Vista, a Gothic tower that once stood in the grounds of the sculpture park itself. cg ‘Ed Kluz: Sheer Folly – Fanciful Buildings of Britain’ is at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (www.ysp.org.uk) until 25 February 2018.
