A Devon duo with an original take on ceramics

Town & Country (UK) - - COUNTRY -

After graduating, Vicky Lindo and her husband Bill Brookes dabbled in embroidery, horology and even making barometers, but it wasn’t until 2009 that they found their calling. Inspired by the 19th- and 20th-century slipware at the gallery where she was working, Lindo took a course in sgraffito – the art of decorating pottery by scratching the surface to reveal the coloured glaze beneath. Such was her talent that the couple now run a thriving business from Devon’s Pigeon Club Pottery; their whimsical, animal-motif designs are stocked everywhere from Portobello Road to the V&A Shop. fh www.vickylindo.co.uk
