Chanel’s dazzling creations celebrate the artistic splendour of Venice
In 1920, Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel travelled to Venice to mourn the death of her lover Boy Capel, but the creative inspiration that she drew from the visit fuelled her for the rest of her life. This year, Chanel pays homage to the Floating City with a new jewellery collection, which includes a rock-crystal necklace that recalls the city’s iconic Murano glass, earrings embellished with spinel and diamond stripes like gondola poles and a suite of jewels with golden lions – Venice’s famous emblem, but also Chanel’s own star sign. kp www.chanel.com
